ETT – 2001 Historic Route By Air 5 days/4 Nights
Visit the main historical sites in the north of Ethiopia - Bahir Dar, Gondar, Axum & Lalibela in 5 days using domestic flights.
Day 1: Early in the morning, depart on a flight for Bahir Dar. After arrival, take a boat trip on Lake Tana to visit a selection of the monasteries hidden on the islands and shores of this sacred lake. Visit the Zege Penninsula and the monasteries of Azuwa Maryam and Ura Kidane Mehret and the island monastery of Debre Maryam near the outlet of the Blue Nile River. In the afternoon, drive out to the Blue Nile Falls for a short hike in the area. Finish the day with the sunset over the lake. Overnight in Bahir Dar (resort or hotel).
Day 2: After breakfast, continue north to Gondar. The four-hour drive will take you through rural villages, offering a wonderful insight into the Amhara culture. After briefly settling in your hotel, explore the sites of Gondar, including a visit to the Royal Enclosure, with six castles and several other buildings. Additionally, visit Fasilidas’s Pool, still used for Timket celebrations today, Ras Gimb Palace Museum and the Debre Birhan Selassie church, with the most famous ceiling in Ethiopia. Overnight in Gondar (hotel).
Day 3: Early morning flight to Axum. Upon arrival to Axum, you will be met by your guide and transferred to your hotel. Today will be a full day visiting the sites of Axum, including the famous obelisks (one that was recently erected after being returned from Italy) and the archeological museum, the Queen of Sheba’s Bath (which supplies water to Axum year-round), Ezana’s encryption, King Kaleb’s tomb, King Bazen’s tomb, and the Queen of Sheba’s Palace. You can also visit the St. Mary of Zion church, where the Ark of the Covenant is kept. Men only are allowed to enter the old church. Unfortunately, no one (except one specially chosen guardian monk) is allowed to enter the chapel where the Ark is kept. Overnight in Axum (hotel).
Day 4: Depart on a morning flight to Lalibela, the most famous of all of the Ethiopian historical sites. After lunch, start your tour of the rock-hewn churches of Lalibela, visiting the Northwestern Cluster of churches - Bet Medhane Alem, Bet Maryam, Bet Meskel, Bet Danaghel, Bet Mikael & Bet Golgotha. You will visit the most famous of all the churches – Bet Giyorgis, constructed in honor of the patron saint of Ethiopia – Saint George. Overnight in Lalibela (hotel).
Day 5: In the morning, visit the nearby monastery of Na’akuto La’ab, set on the side of a cliff. After the visit, proceed to the airport for the return flight back to Addis Ababa.

ETT 2003 - Danakil Dallol part and Lalibela. (4 nights/5 days) – $650 PP
Day 1: – Flight from Addis to Mekele. Mekele – Hamede Ela Drive to Hamedela via Berhale. The Danakil Depression can be said to ‘begin’ here. It is one of the most inhospitable regions of the world, but is nonetheless spectacular, full of eye-catching colors, as in the sulfur springs. The desert has several points lying more than 100 meters (328 ft) below sea level; You pass through a small town of Berhale where the camel caravan stop before they proceed to the northern highlands. En route you see many long camel caravans coming to the salt mine and others going out of the Danakil with their salt loaded camels.(3-4 hrs drive) Camp Hamedela. After a drive to reach Hamad Ela, a better village with a total population about 500 people. Sunset at Dallol. Overnight camping at Hamed Ela.
Day 2: – Morning tour Drive to Ragad (Asebo), the place where the localities are mining salt. Look the activity of breaking the salt from the ground, cutting into rectangular pieces and loading on camels. You drive ahead to Dallol and visit the difference landscape formed by volcanic activity, Dallol + Lake Assal + camel caravans. Excursion to Dallol (116 meters below sea level, one of the lowest places in the world) colorful salts mining, visit Lake Assal, follow up camel caravans and walk with the Afar people. Drive back to Hamedela and proceed to Mekele.
Day 3: – Drive Mekele to Lalibela. OverNight Lalibela Lodge
Day 4: Sunday – Full day Lalibela. OverNight Lalibela Lodge.
Day 5: Monday – Fly from Lalibela to Addis.

Day 1:– Arrival to Jinka by Ethiopian Airlines flight ET171 (at 13:20).
Meet with driver and guide at the airport. After quick lunch drive to Turmi via Alduba market. Proceed to keyafer or to Alduba market Alduba(Tuesday) Market is a bustling place where various dwindling tribes of the Omo Region come together to socialize, share what is happening around and sell and buy goods. Ari, Tsemai, Hamar and Benna people can be seen mixing in the colorful marketplace – a great place for people watching. All kinds of goods are sold at the market, including lots of crafts, jewelry, and spices In Turmi excursion to the village of Hamer people. Accommodation: Kizo Lodge, Turmi
Day 2:– Early in the morning excursion to Omorate (village of Dassenech people), then drive to Jinka. In the afternoon excursion to the village of Aari people. Accommodation: Nasa Hotel, Jinka
